On Saturday, December 12th, Holland students competed in the 2nd HISD District Academic Tournament. The sixth grade students did exceptionally well bringing home top honors in Ready Writing. Errol Williams received a 3rd place trophy, Brenda Gonzalez received 2nd place, and Jai”Lon Tutt received 1st place! Medals were also given to top performing students.
Brenda Gonzalez received a medal for Spelling, Estefani Huerta received
a medal for Listening, and Christian Tovar received a medal for Maps,
Charts, and Graphs. This was a great opportunity for all competitors
and many of them walked away with newly developed friendships that will
last a lifetime. When asked about her experience at the UIL Academic
Meet, Brenda says, “It felt great to win because I gave it my best
effort!” Good job to all students who participated!
