GeoFORCE Participants Announced Print
Three students from Holland were selected to participate in GeoFORCE , the largest college prep program in the nation for earth sciences.  Karen Banda and Priscilla Cavazos were chosen for the Summer Academy.  Their learning adventures will take them to UT-Austin, Barton Springs, and McKinney Falls, Texas.  Then they will travel to Key Largo, Florida to explore the Pennekamp Coral Reef, Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park, Lover’s Key State Park, Canaveral Sea Shores, and the Everglades.  Anthony Gonzalez will explore with the Young Geoscientists as they travel throughout Texas.  They will visit Black Waterhole, Knippa Basalt Traprock Quarry, Del Rio Outcropping, Leona River, Fort Inge, Annandale Ranch Bat Cave, Vulcan Materials Asphalt Quarry, and Big Oak River Camp.  The students will continue to travel for free with the University of Texas-Austin for the next four years.  Upon their high school graduation they will apply for internships with GeoFORCE’s corporate sponsors.  They will also compete for scholarships.
