The Holland Math department’s goal is to prepare all students to be mathematically literate. Students learn to solve problems and express mathematical ideas in a clear, concise, and logical manner. Students should be able to make predictions, reason, draw logical conclusions, and generalize their results.
Teachers deliver instruction through lectures, discussions, guided
practice, and hands-on activities. Students enhance their knowledge by
participating in collaborative groups throughout the week. Multiple
assignments are given to reinforce concepts taught and also to check
for understanding. Students should take notes daily and secure them in
a portfolio/binder to reference them during class work and/or
homework. If additional help is needed, please contact a member of the
math department to arrange for tutorials.
