Our History: William S. Holland Middle School, opened in 1979, is located in the neighborhood of Pleasantville, near the highly industrialized Ship Channel area (I-10 East and the 610 Loop East). Our Mission: We at Holland Middle School will encourage life-long learners by building self esteem, establishing a safe environment, and incorporating technology within an innovative, diverse and rigorous curriculum. Our Vision: We envision Holland as a school with exemplary performance and educational excellence. Our Goals: 1. Create a positive learning environment that clearly defines academic goals, high expectations, discipline standards, consequences and rewards. 2. Assess students' academic performance - Diagnose periodically to see where students are academically. 3. Design and implement instruction that meets the unique needs of each student. 4. Track student progress, provide intervention and reassess. 5. Implement programs and activities that allow students to express their creativity outside of academics. 6. Collaborate with other teachers, the community, students, administrators, and business partners to ensure that all of our students learn. 7. Evaluate and support teachers' professional growth and performance. 8. Promote a positive home and school connection.
